Creating pull requests against core: the easy (noob) way
I do not consider myself a coder. My contributions in the issue queues both in drupal.org as well as in the GitHub repository of Backdrop CMS had very little to do with actual code.

Use case: Develop Backdrop sites and be able to continuously deploy patches, updates and features cleanly and easily on Pantheon. We, the Backdrop Community, hope to offer Backdrop local drush out of the box in the near future, but for now here are the steps to get you going on Pantheon, Terminus, Drush and Backdrop CMS right now!

DrupalCorn is an annual Drupal Camp in Iowa. Two years ago Nate & I were invited to be Keynote speakers and talk to their attendees about Backdrop CMS, which at the time, had not yet been released.
This year at the Twin Cities Drupal Camp there was a full-day Backdrop CMS training workshop to kick off the event. As opposed to previous workshops on Backdrop, the students in this class were primarily decision makers - those responsible for deciding whether Backdrop was suitable for their new projects, existing sites, entire departments, or website development shops. It would appear that it is finally time to start making decisions about the future!
With the recent release of Backdrop 1.4, I wanted to take the opportunity to see how we are doing on our efforts to keep Backdrop running fast. Backdrop's mission is to make site ownership more affordable, and fast performance is a big part of that.
The Backdrop CMS community is proud to announce our fifth software release: 1.4.0! The May 15, 2016 release date was right on time, following Backdrop's rolling release cycle. This release of Backdrop includes lots of exciting new features, including two new modules in core: Redirect and Project Installer!
Stardate 47634.44: We’ve encountered the Backdrop CMS, and found it to be the fastest way to make a flexible and modern website. Using the code and concepts we know from Drupal 7, it optimizes web development for 2016.
However, we are perplexed why our development workflows are still archaic and barbaric. To right this wrong, we must violate the Prime Directive and bring technology from the future.
Kalabox. Engage.
Last weekend Nate & I headed south to Guadalajara in order to attend Drupal Camp Mexico. While there we gave our standard Backdrop talk with a few new twists.
I’ve been building a lot of Backdrop sites lately. Hooray! Most of these new Backdrop sites will belong to people who were previously the proud owners of a Drupal site. But every now and then, I get to work with people who don’t have any experience with Drupal at all. “It’s very similar to Drupal” isn’t going to be a convincing argument if they don’t already know (and love) Drupal. These people want to see sites that have been built with Backdrop.
