Yesterday I launched the latest version of Panda.id.au, my personal blog, which I re-built from the ground up using the Backdrop CMS. This is my second Backdrop website to date; the first being my business site: PackWeb.com.au. A lot of work went into this seemingly simple, minimal blog website, so I thought I'd write about how I built it and how I contributed to Backdrop along the way.
Many Backdrop CMS contributors have been hard at work, and it’s now time to share the fruits of their labor with the rest of the community. Backdrop CMS is proud to announce its 9th on-time release: Backdrop 1.8!
This minor release comes with refreshing design improvements for several administration interfaces and a few new functionality enhancements to improve Backdrop’s usability overall.
If you've been holding back from using Backdrop because your site requires the popular and powerful CiviCRM, hold back no longer. You can now easily install CiviCRM on Backdrop, or migrate it from your Drupal 7/CiviCRM setup.
CiviCRM and Backdrop CMS, two projects who focus on helping non-profits, fit together quite nicely. You can now easily install CiviCRM on Backdrop and benefit from the robust Drupal-like architecture with an extra helping of the user-friendliness added by Backdrop.
Geoff St. Pierre is not only a member of the security team and a core committer to the Backdrop Project but he is also the lead singer and guitarist with "The Understatements" and father to a family of talented musicians.
Backdrop CMS, the comprehensive CMS for small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits, is pleased to announce its 8th on-time release: Backdrop 1.7!
This minor release contains some major enhancements to the Rich-Text Editor for the content editors, as well as substantial improvements to Layouts, and Views for the site architects.
This year's DrupalCon North America may have been one of my favorites so far. Baltimore was a wonderful city, the sessions I attended were incredibly inspiring, and the convention itself was extremely well-organized. And, for the first time, I started to feel comfortable that Drupal 8 was finding its footing instead of being stuck in "wait-and-see mode."
One of the strengths of a good content management system is its ability to add on extra modules for additional functionality. In an open source environment, such as BackdropCMS, many developers share their contributions for the benefit of all, and some of these contributed modules become frequently used and a de facto solution to specific website needs.
This blog post is a Cookbook that shows how you can install XAMPP on Windows 10 to use it for Backdrop as a development system. (These instructions also apply to Drupal 7 & 8.)
Though Backdrop 1.6.0 may be considered a minor release, it is packed with new features that improve the powerful content management tools and lays the groundwork for comprehensive file and media management in future releases.
