Presenting Backdrop at CMS Philly

CMS Philly Logo

Every year since 2008, The Philadelphia Area Tech Association has presented Drupaldelphia, a Drupal camp for the Philadelphia region.  This year, the organizers decided to include other web content management systems, so they renamed the event CMS Philly and invited representatives from non-Drupal projects to give presentations as well.  Systems represented included Apostrophe CMS, Backdrop CMS, Craft CMS, Drupal, ExpressionEngine, and WordPress.

Backdrop CMS 1.16.1 ~ 100th Release!

The Backdrop community is proud to announce our 100th release 1.16.1! 🎉

We've come along way and there are many enhancements from the v1.0.0 days of Backdrop. Many new features, new faces, and new initiatives. All and all we are a growing, learning, and thriving community. Have a quick glance at a fresh install of v.1.0.0 next to an install of 1.16.0.

Growing our community means growing our leadership

For the past 5 years Backdrop has been growing. It's been a slow but steady increase in adoption, contributors, and those involved in core development. It's time we added some new faces to our leadership team. On behalf of the Backdrop Project Management Committee, I'm happy to announce that we have added a new core committer, and 3 new people on the PMC.

Using Initiatives to Set Priorities and Focus Energy

The PMC (Project Management Committee) for Backdrop CMS is currently considering a proposal to use formal Initiatives as a means of defining project priorities and focusing attention on important needs in the community. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, the Project Management Committee is expected to authorize an initial slate of 2-4 initiatives, with the potential for more at a later date.

Goals for Backdrop CMS in 2020 - Your Input Needed

Backdrop CMS just turned 5 years old with its 15th release. Over the next few weeks, we'd like to reflect on how far we have come and set some goals for the upcoming year.

Over the next 2 weeks, we're setting aside our regular weekly meeting agendas and taking some time to look at the big picture and set some goals for the upcoming year. If you are not a regular participant in these meetings, this would be a good time to drop in and share some feedback.

The following meetings are designated as special goal setting meetings:
