This is an ever-ongoing project I started many years ago and add content when I get the chance.  I live in Japan on and off and through my main job have traveled extensively through pretty much all of Japan.  The original project was created in Drupal 7 and had way too many features.  The Drupal 7 version took a good year too build as I anticipated users signing up and using all types of features I had programmed but that never happened so this new Backdrop site is a much simpler version.  I use Views extensively and some fancy javaScript for taxonomy filtering but that's about it.  I'm trying to keep as many modules and as much javaScript out of the site as possible and just let backdrop handle the basic Admin, nodes, etc. while creating clean HTML content.

Why was Backdrop chosen for this project?

1.) Originally a Drupal 7 site and decided it was time to move away from Drupal 7 before support ended.  2.) The site was bloated and I wanted to clean it up.  I spent a good amount of time trying to decide between Wordpress and Backdrop but I've always proffered Drupal/Backdrop over Wordpress and Backdrop was able to handle what I needed done so... went with Backdrop.
