The Institute furthers these ends by holding its Annual Meeting in early January in Berkeley, California, to share and discuss research. Due to the global pandemic, this year's Annual Meeting was held entirely online. The new IAS website, built on Backdrop CMS, was fundamental in facilitating the online event.

Why was Backdrop chosen for this project?

IAS had an older website in need of an update. They were also looking for a solution for their upcoming Annual Meeting. Backdrop enabled this group to meet both needs by moving annual meeting registration onto the organization website.

Backdrop's multilingual capabilities came in handy when website content needed to be translated into both English and Spanish.

Backdrop's access control system protected Presentations and Posters for the Annual Meeting, so that only registered participants would be able to watch the videos, view the posters, or participate in real-time discussions.

After the meeting concludes, the website will also manage membership for the organization.
