Hello! My name is Martin Jones and I operate as a solo web developer under the company name of Natty Web Development Ltd. I build websites using BackdropCMS and Drupal, currently specialising in upgrades from Drupal 7 to Backdrop.

I started building websites in the early 1990s and worked initially on intranet sites for a multinational pharmaceutical company. When Natty Web Development was born in 2008 I initially worked with Wordpress, Joomla and OpenCart before settling on and developing an enthusiasm for Drupal. Initially using Drupal version 5, then 6, then moving on to Drupal 7, I have developed dozens of websites for customers with a variety of needs, all over the UK. Keen to offer great value for money, my focus (as a solo developer) has been on mainly small organisations and not-for-profits.

The release of Drupal 8 initially looked promising and I converted two of my primary customer sites to that platform. However, this learning experience demonstrated that the Drupal 8 (and 9) development environment was a completely different beast, leading to much higher costs for my clients.

In 2021 I started working with BackdropCMS and found an excellent match for the needs of my customers, and their budget in particular. I am now focused on upgrading existing Drupal 7 websites to BackdropCMS in the most cost-effective ways.

If you have a small to medium sized Drupal 7 website and want to upgrade to the more stable platform of BackdropCMS, I would love to hear from you.

Ways in which I contribute to Backdrop CMS:
  • I provide services related to Backdrop CMS
  • I create/comment on issues for Backdrop CMS on GitHub (core or contrib)
  • I provide designs for backdropcms.org (or other Backdrop properties)
  • I create/comment on issues for backdropcms.org (or other Backdrop properties)
  • I give support in live chat, via Zulip, Gitter or IRC
  • I answer questions in the Backdrop Forum
