The most commonly used Drupal 7 features were added into Backdrop core.

Backdrop hopes to be a complete and feature-rich product, right out of the box. Many features that are used by the majority of websites have been moved into Backdrop core. Below you'll find a list of contributed modules that are no longer necessary to add to a Backdrop site. Some of these modules have been moved directly into core, some have been integrated into existing core modules, and still others have been reworked or rewritten with Backdrop's philosophy in mind -- usually to address performance or usability issues.

Modules now included core, or no longer necessary include:

  • Admin menu module (moved into core, renamed Admin Bar module)
  • Block class module (integrated into System module)
  • Caption Filter module (integrated into CKeditor module)
  • Chaos Tools module (integrated into various System modules)

A * above indicates that there may be features included in the D7 version of the module that were not moved to core for Backdrop. For example: Date repeat (a sub-module for Date in D7) is still in contrib for Backdrop CMS.
