Growing our community means growing our leadership

For the past 5 years Backdrop has been growing. It's been a slow but steady increase in adoption, contributors, and those involved in core development. It's time we added some new faces to our leadership team. On behalf of the Backdrop Project Management Committee, I'm happy to announce that we have added a new core committer, and 3 new people on the PMC. 

Using Initiatives to Set Priorities and Focus Energy

The PMC (Project Management Committee) for Backdrop CMS is currently considering a proposal to use formal Initiatives as a means of defining project priorities and focusing attention on important needs in the community. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, the Project Management Committee is expected to authorize an initial slate of 2-4 initiatives, with the potential for more at a later date. 

Goals for Backdrop CMS in 2020 - Your Input Needed

Backdrop CMS just turned 5 years old with its 15th release. Over the next few weeks, we'd like to reflect on how far we have come and set some goals for the upcoming year. 

Over the next 2 weeks, we're setting aside our regular weekly meeting agendas and taking some time to look at the big picture and set some goals for the upcoming year. If you are not a regular participant in these meetings, this would be a good time to drop in and share some feedback.

Become an advocate for a new feature in Backdrop core

Is there a feature that you would REALLY like to see get into the next release of Backdrop CMS, but you don't think you have the skills to write the code for it (or maybe you do)? Then consider becoming an advocate for that issue. 

The Backdrop community has been experimenting with an "advocacy" program, in which we ask community members to identify an issue they feel strongly about, and volunteer some time to help push that issue forward. Backdrop CMS 1.14 Released

The Backdrop CMS community is excited to announce the release of Backdrop CMS version 1.14! Version 1.14 comes with a mix of bug fixes, improvements to the user interface, as well as several new features:

Flexible layouts (configurable in UI):

This exciting new feature is the highlight of version 1.14. Site editors will now have the ability to create their own custom page layouts through a simple and easy to use user interface (issue #3755).
